The prostate gland is present only in males. It is located around the exit gate of the urinary bladder where it hugs the tube that throws urine out of the body (the urethra). This is why any condition that affects the prostate can put pressure on the flow of urine as it leaves the body and causes urine complaints like :
Desire to pass urine frequently
Strong desire to urgently pass urine
Waking up at night multiple times to pass urine
Straining or putting pressure to pass urine
