A biopsy is a process to remove a small bit of the prostate under local anaesthesia. This is done when there may be a doubt about prostate cancer either during the examination of the prostate or during some blood tests or family history of prostate cancer. A systematic 12 or 14 core Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) guided biopsy is the ideal method and the tissue is sent for histopathological examination (HPE).
This facility is available in the Ultrasound unit at our centre which houses the most advanced GE Voluson 4D sonography unit.
