Torsion means to twist. Testicular torsion causes the supporting blood vessels of the testicle to twist and cause sudden pain and swelling of the testis. The evaluation includes a scrotal Doppler to confirm the twist and look for changes in blood flow. Torsion is an emergency procedure and the testis need to be untwisted and also the opposite testis safeguarded from twisting in the future.
